diy project: drawer pull jewelry hanger

 1. Find your your favorite drawer pulls at your local craft store

2.  Find a suitable piece of wood and paint it! Solid or a fun pattern...
3. Drill holes in wood piece for the drawer pulls
4.  Attach twine on the ends of the wood boards by wrapping continuously and tie to both wrapped ends twine strings for the board to hang by.
My sister and I made these together so we had two variations!

weekend project: Wood and Neon Necklace DIY

I found the idea for this project here, I decided to make two necklaces to go together, had a little more variation in how I threaded the beads, and I just used embroidery floss for the string.
For this project you will need:
* Embroidery floss in your desired colors (ranging from .50 to $1)
* Unfinished wood beads, I used 3/4" ( about $2 for 27 pieces)
*Scissors

birds of a feather flock together.

Growing up my sister had a strange fascination with those little mushroom birds..you know, the ones that you can find in the floral section of a craft store for wreaths, etc? Anyway she loved those things, not sure what she really did with them, but they were her favorite.  We spotted some the other day and she ran over to them SO excited- she quickly remembered her fascination with them years ago... AND we decided to make a necklace with them!

We used real twigs and then painted them white.
Wrapped wire around both ends of twig leaving room to loop the chain through.
Hot glued the little bird onto the twig.
And used leather cording as the chain.

DIY for you: Turquoise Necklace

For this project you will need:

*turquoise beads, and any other beads you would like to add.
* jewelry pliers
*head pins, and jewelry loops found on the jewelry/bead aisle of you local art store
*chain (mine was thrifted)

1. Gather your supplies
2. Insert 1 head pin into the bead you are using.
3. Using your jewelry tools, snip the excess wire and using the pliers bend the wire to a complete loop.
4.You can attach onto chain with the loop you just created, or attach a jewelry loop to it like I did.  The loop makes for easier removal, if you ever want to switch out the chain.

diy pinterest challenge: birds nest necklace

My sister and I fell in love with these birds nest necklace designs on pinterest, and had to try our own! We made one for our mom and I made another for my mother-in-law.
Materials needed:
*jewelry wire- we used 20 gauge in bronze color
*beads for the eggs- pick the size and color you prefer
* chain for the necklace, with loops(2) and fastener
*jewelry pliers and snips for cutting and bending the wire.

Thread beads onto wire
bend wire into a hook at the end to hold the 1st bead.

begin wrapping around the base of the beads using fingers or pliers( using pliers makes it look a little less predictable)
Once you have a good base, like above start wrapping around to form the real nest shape!
Continue to wrap until its the desired size.
Snip wire leaving about an inch to work with and hook the end again.  Put on  fastening loop (needed to loop the chain through) and and wrap and tuck jewelry wire into base of the nest securely. Attach chain and fastener.
